Official visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador in the Republic of Belarus to Belarus State Economic University.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador in the Republic of Belarus, Carlos Humberto LarreaDávila visited the Belarus State Economic University (BSEU) on May 13, 2015. The University was represented by Rector, Professor V.N. Shimov, Vice-rector for Academic work V.A. Khmelnitsky, Head of the Center for Latin American Studies N.V. Popok, Head of the Department of National Economy and Public Management I.B. Dorina, Head of the Departmentof International Business G.V. Turban and Head of International Affairs division E.A. Zabrudskaya.
The Ecuadorian ambassador talked to the University representatives about the work of the recently opened Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador. The BSEU rector V.N. Shimovinformed the guest aboutthe university’s bachelor and master programs in English. Mr. Carlos Humberto LarreaDávila said that these majors would be of interest to potential applicants from Ecuador. In this context, the Belarusian Ministry of Education is considering a draft agreement between the Republic of Ecuador and the Republic of Belarus on mutual recognition of diplomas.

The Ambassador of Ecuador suggested that it would be interesting for Belarusian economists to get acquainted with the model of Ecuador’s economic planning, which had attracted the attention of its neighboring countries in Latin America. As well as European countries, such as Greece and Italy.It was also decided to publish articlesof Ecuadorian economists in the«Belarusian EconomicJournal».A joint work plan of the Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador and the Center for Latin American Studies is under currently under way.Lectures, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, and other events are being part of it.

Belarus and Ecuador have maintained close friendly relations and active cooperation which will be confirmed by the visit of Belarus’s President to the Republic of Ecuador in June 2015.
