А research and practice seminar of young scholars «Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Latin America» took place on June 11th. The seminar was attended by the diplomatic corps, including thoseof the Embassy of the Republic Ecuador inthe Republic of Belarus FrediErrera and Pedro Valdivieso, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Belarus Johan Ruth, and Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba Jose Antonio Fernandez. Among the participants of the Seminar were Head of the BSEU Center for Latin American Studies, Dean Natalia Popok; Professor of the BelarusianState University, Dr. hab. (political sciences) A.A. Chelyadinsky; Chair of the BSEU Department of International Business Dr. G.V. Turban; Associate Professor of the Belarus State Economic University Anhel Muhika; Associate Professor, Dr.O.V. Ryzhankova (Belarus State Economic University).
Fifth-year students presented their research papers: A.Sakharov (School of International Business Communications) «Features of the political and socio-economic integration of Latin America and the Caribbean region», Adriana Rivas Mehia (School of International Business Communications) «Foreign Trade Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Peru» and I. Zhurina (School of International Economic Relations) «The Development of Foreign Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela».Young scholarsstudied the economic situation in the countries and suggested their own ways of expanding future cooperation between Belarus and the countries of Latin America.
At the seminar the students also discussed various issues related to the cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the countries of Latin America,including the factors that could affect the development of bilateral relationsin a positive or negative way, the dynamics of trade turnover between the countries,the increasing role of the integration processes in the world today, etc.
The participants agreed that the cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Latin American countries have a great potential for the implementation of their economic and political interests. In this context, it is necessary to work towards further consolidation of long-term relations with the countries of the region, the expansion of a political dialogue, the strengthening of the legal framework, the search for sources of funding for long-term cooperation projects, as well as promoting the interests of the Belarusian enterprises, including the establishment of joint ventures, exchange visits of representatives of the business community, and strengthening the multilateral cooperation within the framework of major international organizations.
